be left behind May 20th 2017 on the annual "Following Francis Tour".
This year we will be travelling to the Connecticut Air And Space Center
in Stratford Connecticut. Anybody who has ever attended one of these
tours know they are not to be missed. Francis selects the greatest
touring roads, fantastic destinations and he finds great restaurants. I
am sure that this year will not be the exception.
The Connecticut Air and Space Museum is Housed in hangers located near the Sikorsky Airport. The site originally was the home of Vought Sikorsky Corporation. They were the company who designed and manufactured the famous Vought Corsair F4U Fighter. This aircraft was used by the US Marine Corp to very effectively destroy the Japanese during WWII. It also has the distinction of being the last propeller driven fighter (not the P-51 Mustang) to be used in United States Service. The distinctive Gull wings enabled the Corsair to sport the largest propeller ever attached to a US fighter. And best of all if you remember the great Robert Conrad television series of the 1970's "Ba Ba Black Sheep". The F4U Corsair is the airplane he used as Major Greg 'Pappy' Boyington to win the war in the pacific one week at a time. In addition there will be many "works in progress", and all kind of aircraft. Like I said this day trip is not to be missed.
The day's itinerary is as follows:
* 9:00 am meet at Francis Tuoti’s home in North Salem for coffee.
8 Elizabeth Drive, North Salem NY 10560 NY.
* 9:40 am depart to the CT Air and Space Center, Stratford CT . Approximately a one hour tour to the center. The drive is along beautiful back roads except for a few easy miles in Stratford.
* 1:00 pm: Lunch at Knapp’s Landing, almost adjacent to the Air Center. It is right on the water, a bay of Long Island Sound, really beautiful.
If you are interested in attending this exiting tour please send me an Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or give me a call at 914-762-9521. Francis needs an accurate head count and there is a limited number of spaces. NOTE; since this is on Military property, attendees must be 18 years of age or older.
